4 and 6 inch hoppers are commonly selected to work with shear pump or centrifuge sand pump as a jet mud mixer to assist in conditioning and mixing fresh drilling mud. The unit consist of stack table, nozzle, flange etc.
Working principle
The mud hopper works by using the Venturi Effect. The principle of the venturi effect is the barrier when the wind blows, the barrier on the leeward side port near the surface pressure is relatively low, resulting in adsorption and cause the air flow. Venturi principle is very simple, just to make the air from coarse to fine, in order to accelerate the gas flow rate, the gas outlet at the rear side of the venturi tube to form a “vacuum” area. When the vacuum zone close to the work-piece, there will be certain adsorption.
Venturi type mud hopper and vortex type mud hopper are both available.
