Hammer unions, also called wing unions, are one of the most common connection types in oil and gas industry as its reliable, heavy-duty, high-pressure for flow lines at drilling sites. Figure 1003 hammer union, misaligning union has a ball seat incorporating a primary “O” ring seal with a metal secondary seal which assures perfect sealing in misalignment position. It can give a 7.5 degree angular adjustment from the center(15 degree total). This union is ideal for where lines cannot be aligned to run water, oil or mud. Available in 10000psi with end threaded or buttweld for welding.

Lip type seal ring is an elastomer component, as a secondary seal to protect metal-to-metal against corrosion, which minimizes fluid flow turbulence while creating a pressure seal. Depending on the union figure it can be a lip type “seal ring” or an “O-ring”. Different material s are available to suit for different fluid service. Buna-N (NBR)  is common for standard service, Viton (FKM) for H2S service.
